Country Rocks the River
Saturday, May 27, 2017, 5:30 p.m.

Grab your cowboy hats and dancing boots – country music is storming the stage at Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park. Get ready to rock the night away to a live concert of country hits on the riverfront.

The park opens at 4 p.m., so come early to get your spot on the Great Lawn!

5:30 p.m. Belles & Whistles is an award-winning mother-daughter duo, blending energetic contemporary country chart-topping tunes, sweet churned butter harmonies, and a homespun stage show that will delight the youngest to oldest fans. Led by 18-year-old Kelli Jones, Belles & Whistles takes you on a musical journey that borrows from the best of todays and yesterday’s strong female country trendsetters and gives you a peek into the future of original country music.

7 p.m. An eclectic mix of four music/composition majors, two Iraq War combat veterans and a former Division One basketball player, Minneapolis-based country rock band Maiden Dixie combines its members’ talents, experience and love of music to form a true bond with audiences at venues large and small. After bursting onto the music scene in 2011, that potent mix has made the band’s live shows one of the most sought-after tickets at venues across the Midwest.

9 p.m. Trent Harmon holds the reigning title as American Idol. The Season XV victor originally hails from East Mississippi and immersed himself in music from an early age. From singing “Amazing Grace” with his family to starring in various musicals in college, Trent credits life on his family’s farm as a major influence on his music career. Less than one week after taking the title during the final season of American Idol, Trent entered the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, earning him a “hot shot debut” with coronation song “Falling,” which was written by Idol judge Keith Urban along with celebrated songwriters Dallas Davidson and Brett James. Already in the studio, the 25-year-old musician is eager to begin recording his self-described “Country-soul” album and recently released his debut single “There’s A Girl” on FOX & Friends’ Summer Concert Series.  Critics raved week-after-week following each of Trent’s “vocally gifted” (LA Times) performances as he covered hits by Justin Timberlake, Sia, Parsan James, Percy Sledge and more. For the latest updates, follow Trent on Twitter.
